Titan Hockey Academy 2009 Squad Strikes Gold at Alberta Champions Cup

EDMONTON, AB - The Titan Hockey Academy 2009 team brought home gold this past weekend at the Alberta Champions Cup in Edmonton, capping off an impressive run with a 3-1 victory over the “Short Sticks” — a skilled squad comprised primarily of U16 AA players from the KC Athletic Club.

The Titans went 3-1 in round-robin play before surging through the semifinals and into a hard-fought championship game. Across six total games, the team demonstrated a relentless commitment to teamwork, awareness, and selfless puck movement — values that have been central to the Titans' identity all spring.

“Our focus all weekend was on playing as a group and giving honest effort every shift,” said Head Coach Robert Tyszkiewicz. “The boys responded, and it showed in the results.”

The team’s success wasn’t just on the scoreboard — they also finished with the tournament’s lowest goals against, thanks in large part to stellar goaltending performances from Evan Hawkes and Ivan Tourin and a tight, disciplined team defense. “Every single player bought in, and our goaltenders were outstanding,” added Tyszkiewicz.

Supported by Coach Robert and medical trainer Ami, the Titans showcased not only skill and grit, but a growing chemistry and trust in each other that bodes well for the rest of the season.

Congratulations to the Titan Hockey Academy 2009 Pantheon — Alberta Champions Cup YEG Gold Medalists!
